Forensic Investigations
When something breaks, leaks, get moldy or otherwise doesn’t perform as expected, a forensic investigation can usually uncover the cause. RLC Engineering, PLLC provides forensic investigations on construction defects, water intrusion, floor failures, deck collapses, mold and fungi, storm damage, crawlspace damage and other problems with residential and light commercial buildings.
Hardwood Floor Inspections
We perform hardwood floor inspections throughout the United States. Inspections include floors made of solid wood, engineered wood, site-finished, or factory finished. With an understanding of, and background in, engineering, construction, wood science, and building science, causes and issues not properly recognized by other inspectors can be identified.
Indoor Environment Consulting
Indoor environments are intended to provide comfortable, safe conditions not only for the occupants but for the structure and contents as well. We provide consulting services on creating and maintaining safe, comfortable indoor environments. When temperatures, humidity levels, condensation or fungal growth becomes a problem, we can help identify causes and solutions.
Training
RLC Engineering has over 25 years of experience providing seminars and training programs for numerous groups involved with residential and light commercial buildings. Recent programs have included: Moisture and Condensation in Crawlspaces, Proper use of Moisture Meters, Coastal Flood Impacts, Indoor Environments and Hardwood Flooring.
Benefits of using RLC Engineering
Reports are generated based on data obtained from a site visit, interviews of involved people, and product and/or project documentation. Conclusions and recommendations, where applicable, are based on appropriate industry standards in conjunction with physics, engineering, wood science, and building science.
With an understanding of, and background in, engineering, construction and building science, RLC Engineering, PLLC can identify causes and issues not recognized by other inspectors or investigators. Those causes and issues are clearly communicated to stakeholders through both reports and training programs.
Our Philosophy
RLC Engineering, PLLC does not offer or provide cheap nor biased inspections, consulting or investigations. If you want a cheap inspection or a biased inspection, please look elsewhere.
Detailed, technical inspections and investigations are performed, with clear, concise reports. The report will not necessarily tell you what you want to hear, but will tell you what you need to hear. Inspections and reports are unbiased. I don’t have a problem making a manufacturer, installer, builder, or owner upset. Yes, it bothers me, but it doesn’t sway my inspection. My philosophy is that you are paying me well to tell you what happened, such that your repairs work, and your money and time are not wasted. It is that simple.
